Born in Florida, Uruguay, he has earned international acclaim for his unmistakable sound, expressive musicality, and distinguished career as both a performer and composer.

Héctor Ulises Passarella is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest bandoneon players and one of the leading figures of contemporary tango. Born in Florida, Uruguay, he has earned international acclaim for his unmistakable sound, expressive musicality, and distinguished career as both a performer and composer.
Throughout his career, he has appeared as a soloist with renowned symphony and chamber orchestras and has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Barbican Centre in London, the Rudolfinum in Prague, the Parco della Musica in Rome, and the Megaron in Athens.
He has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists such as Luis Bacalov, Myung-Whun Chung, Leo Brouwer, Yuri Bashmet, and Donato Renzetti. His performance on the Academy Award-winning soundtrack of Il Postino, composed by Luis Bacalov, remains one of the highlights of his career. He has also recorded for Deutsche Grammophon and other leading international labels.
A composer and educator, Passarella is the author of the treatise The Bandoneón: Understanding and Playing It and the founder of the Centro del Bandoneón di Roma, established under the patronage of the Embassy of Uruguay in Italy and the Italian-Latin American Institute. Over the years, he has received numerous international honors, including the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
